Birthdays

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

My birthday was Sunday, but my family celebrated all weekend. Besides the privilege of turning 21, I did a lot of other fun stuff. On Friday night, my sister surprised me by taking me to the White Sox game at US Cellular Field. The seats were stellar, and the game was great. On Saturday, we hung out as a family and I got a Carlton Fisk throwback Sox jersey. On Sunday, it was the big day. I spent it with family and friends and I spent Monday with the family and at work. It was a great weekend, and probably the best birthday yet!

I can’t think of a witty title

Well, here’s a mini post to whet your appetite for the long weekend.
I hope it’s not disappointing.

I woke up freezing this morning in the new apartment. It’s chilly in the Twin Cities today, but the weather should be absolutely wonderful this weekend. I’m driving down to Sioux Falls this afternoong for my brother’s high school graduation. Lots of friends and family will be around, which will be fun–although my mom isn’t quite sure where I’ll be sleeping for a few nights. I’m flexible though. (more…)

Wednesday

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Grades were finally posted yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, I put effort into all my classes, but there were countless times this semester that I completely slacked and had no motivation to study or do homework. About mid-April I was hit with the idea that I’d completely bombed this semester because of this apathy. That said, I’m glad that I did finish strong and I honestly felt confident that my kick at the end pushed me to do as well as I did. If only the plus / minus system wasn’t in place; otherwise, I’d have a 4.0 this semester.

I’m getting antsy this summer, because I really haven’t done much this summer and I’m getting bored. Work (OSLC Daycamp!) doesn’t start until June 4th, so the most work I’ve done is the normal yard work. I guess playing guitar and drums all day will suffice until then.

Four days until my 21st birthday…

too much stuff

Monday, May 21st, 2007

This past weekend my sister graduated from law school, which was quite exciting for my family.  Many relatives came to the affair, and it was a nice time.  As the older of the 2 younger sisters, I was in charge of some preparations, which kept me busy most of the week leading up, but then I also had to pack some of my stuff up for my parents to take with them. Top 10 things of the school year…

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Thanks for the inspiration, Tim!

In no particular order…

1. Bears vs. Vikings, Metrodome, September 24th, 2006: Bears win, and my seat was awesome!

2. Exec. Board: Being an elected student official was a great opportunity to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I spent time with some great people, becoming more passionate about student government and student life.

Home…

Monday, May 14th, 2007

It’s always great to be home! While I can’t wait to get back to CSP, it’s good to have some time with the fam. Tonight, we went out to eat as a family to celebrate my parents’ 25th anniversary.

Top 10 of 06-07

Monday, May 14th, 2007

So I was sitting in Barnes and Noble in Sioux Falls (probably one of my favorite places in good ol’ Soo Foo), and I was thinking that there were a lot of good highlights from this past school year.

So here they are. They aren’t in any order, however. I don’t know that I can do that ranking thing, and people will always disagree. Each have their own value (that sounds so cheesy, but it’s true). Bear with me; I know this is long. If you don’t like it, write your own.

Golden Reunion

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

The end of the school year isn’t just the end of one’s experience for many at Concordia. Today and tomorrow, over 70 alums are coming back for their Golden Reunion, meaning they graduated in 1957. It’s hard to imagine what Concordia would have looked like at that time. This is the third reunion I’ve gotten to be a part of, and it’s always neat to see people so enthusiastic to see each other and explore CSP again. That’s what I’ll get to look forward to - in 49 years!

Summer “Vacation”

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Back in elementary school and even junior high, I used to love the days of Summer Vacation - sleeping in, playing outside, riding bikes, shooting hoops, seeing friends, and the list goes on. However, lately my summers have been plagued with work.
