Summer “Vacation”
May 10th, 2007 by Andy WyssBack in elementary school and even junior high, I used to love the days of Summer Vacation - sleeping in, playing outside, riding bikes, shooting hoops, seeing friends, and the list goes on. However, lately my summers have been plagued with work.
Two summers ago, I held down three jobs. I worked on a construction crew, at Subway, and mowing lawns. Last summer I worked 60 hours a week in a 110 degree glass factory. I lost 30 pounds, and still haven’t gained it all back. I really don’t know what this summer has in store for me.
I’ve applied at 11 places back home, and I’ve only heard back from one of them. I have really dreaded these past summers because I know that all I’ll be doing is working…and I feel like I don’t have much to show for it, because I donate it all to Concordia. So, as I sit here, I try and picture the day when I’m incredibly wealthy and I’m enjoying my summers again.
