“It’s a pungent artichoke”

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Caution, this is long, but it’s chock-full of good stuff and hopefully some multi-media if I can figure it all out.

I’m on lunch break at good ol’ Alumni Relations, and my boss allowed me to have some great Pizza Luce leftovers. The pizza is amazing and has some pretty crazy options. Anyway, there are giant artichokes on this particular pizza, and it’s a little too much for me (hence the title of the entry).

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go to Pizza Luce. Anyone who goes to Concordia is a short walk from this great place (plus it’s open until 2a.m.) For you incoming freshmen, you can have great pizza AND study for an Old Testament final at the same time! (more…)

Chicago

It’s flawed, just like the rest of the world, but the most beautiful city in it. I’ve been downtown a couple of times in the past week for day camp field trips, and each time I’m reminded of it’s beauty. If you haven’t been at all or in a while, I highly recommend it. There’s some thing for everyone: sports, culture, nightlife, architecture, parks, the lake, and food.

The past few weeks I’ve been reading Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, a look into the Christian faith from a postmodern viewpoint and directed at people who fit into that subculture. (more…)

I’m exhausted.

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Well, it’s strange to think that I’m as tired as I am, because I haven’t been doing a lot of physical activity lately…. It’s befuddling (isn’t that a great word?).

Okay, I know that each and every one of you are rolling your eyes. Get over it.

Anyway, I suppose that my lethargy is due to the three days I’ve spent at St. Peter for the LUCAD gathering. It stands for Lutheran University and College Alumni Directors. I know, I’m not even done with my undergrad work and I’m off to conventions. But I do work at the Alumni Office, and this is an excellent way to get the real scoop on Alumni Relations. (more…)

In the Summertime

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

The past few weeks since my birthday have literally flown by, and I’ve finally had some things to do besides doing chores at home. Summer Camp (Our Savior Lutheran Day Camp) has begun, and it’s been fun so far. the kids are energetic and fun as always, and I have a great group of co-workers. It helps that most of us have known each other for the better portion of our lives. Besides that, I’ve playing a lot of guitar and drums, trying to actually practice for once in my life…that’s not always easy, I suppose.

Leftovers, the insanity of Rainbow, and more!

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

I was going to devote a whole post in honor of my appreciation of leftovers, but then my writing really annoyed and bored me, so you’ll have to miss out on that. But since I’ve been working nearly full-time and live in an apartment for the first time, I’ve come to understand the greater need to survive on leftovers. There, that’s all I’ll say about that. Randomness

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I want to wish a happy belated 21st birthday to Billy…I’m sure he partied hard (and is maybe still recuperating).
Anyway, summer has been going well thus far. CU’s Kawaskii Bacon had a great showing at the 2006 NCAA Track & Field championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. He represented Concordia well, and I’m proud of him.
I’m back home in Wisconsin, but I had to run back to Concordia to . . . (more…)
