Leftovers, the insanity of Rainbow, and more!

June 7th, 2007 by Tim Sailer

I was going to devote a whole post in honor of my appreciation of leftovers, but then my writing really annoyed and bored me, so you’ll have to miss out on that. But since I’ve been working nearly full-time and live in an apartment for the first time, I’ve come to understand the greater need to survive on leftovers. There, that’s all I’ll say about that.

Speaking of food, everyone likes to shop at Rainbow at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. I’m not sure what that’s all about, but I found myself having to slam on the “breaks” of my giant mini-van of a cart before colliding with another cart full of hot pockets, pineapples, and Ramen. And you know that whole thing about not shopping for food when you’re hungry? I can’t ever do that again–otherwise I waste precious dollars on things like Shrek fruit snacks and Ben & Jerry’s (Vermonty Python) Ice Cream…. You live and learn, I guess.

In other news, other than my food revelations/epiphanies, things have been starting to become more routine for the summer, which is always nice. Rehearsals for Oklahoma! are starting to get to be more regular, and I’m having a lot of fun meeting new castmembers–they’re all really friendly and very talented.

Yesterday, I spent close to 6 hours cleaning and organizing around work. We’ve got a monster closet that is possessed or something. You can see the floor now, and shelves are nice and organized. I’ll have to finish up the moving of some boxes and such, but the dirty work is done. It wiped me out. So now you can all feel sorry for me….

I’m sitting in the commons at Concordia, and someone just shrieked. All is well. So it goes. (RIP Kurt Vonnegut)

Okay, if this hasn’t been a completely random post, I don’t know what is. It’s been a while, so I thought I’d have more to say than I actually do. Hope everyone is having a swell summer so far.

Later.

I was a big anti-leftovers person until I lived off campus last summer in an apartment. I definitely learned the importance of that lesson, plus when not to grocery shop as well.
