The Update
September 11th, 2007 by Tim SailerIt’s been chilly the past two days. Fall is coming, and I love it. This transition is my favorite time of year by far. Hopefully we won’t have to turn the air conditioner on anymore at the apartment.
Speaking of the apartment, commuting during the school year is quite the process. On Sunday night my roommate and another friend who lives near us had a carpool meeting. We were able to find three days that we could all ride together and cut costs of gas. It’s great this worked out because the 8 mile drive can really do damage to my checking account if I’m filling up all the time. It’s just strange adjusting to everything. The class schedule is completely different, and no one knows when meetings can occur. I’m wondering if there is something inherently wrong with the “system” or if people are just averse to change. I’m willing to say it’s a little of both, but I have no proof to back that up.
Also in apartment land is a new kitten. It’s quite a saga. But she kind of wandered to our back steps on Sunday. We found the owners, and they said we could keep her. So now we have this feisty flirt roaming around the floor (actually, she slides across the floor more than anything). Here’s a picture:
Her unofficial name as of late is “Ainsley.”
In other news, I’m diving head-on into classes. I’m looking at post-structuralist theory in literature, diagramming sentences, writing newspaper articles and editing them, reading Hmong folktales, diving into Formalist Script Analysis, and singing, singing, singing.
I’m also starting rehearsals for The Comedy of Errors. Perhaps I’ll wait to talk about those details until a later post.
All in all, it should be a pretty good year.
