News, news, news–a coffee rush update
November 14th, 2007 by Tim SailerCoffee is one of those strange things. It’s really not the greatest thing for my throat and voice, especially with performances coming up for “Into the Woods.” But I do have a jolt of energy this morning while I’ve been working at Alumni Relations and sorting through my e-mails, the news, and my Script Analysis homework.
Speaking of the news, Concordia is nearing the end of a two-week pilot of the USA Today’s Collegiate Readership program. Currently, we have have free issues of “The New York Times,” “The Pioneer Press,” and “USA Today.” It’s exciting to see people look around and peruse the headlines. I know that I’ve been much more informed about things. I haven’t been an avid newsreader, but that has quickly changed (mostly due to my higher involvement with “The Sword.”) I’ve written more about this in an article of the next issue of “The Sword.” It should be out either tomorrow or Friday.
Now, back to theatre (it is my major after all). Tonight is the preview for “Into the Woods.” I hope everyone gets a chance to see it. I think it is one of my favorite shows. It has something for everyone. Okay, the little kids may not appreciate it or understand all of it, but it does have the classic fairy tales that some may recognize. I love the blending of tragedy and comedy, adult and childish material. The music is witty (and insane). The colors: lights, costumes, set are so much fun. I get this sense from the entire cast that we just love being in this pretend world and realizing how much reality and fantasy is a part of the real world on stage and off. I hope this makes sense.
I wish I had more pictures to show to entice you. The best I’ve got is the horse I’ve been working on. I drew it out, cut the wood, and then I’ve done the detailing. You’ll have to see the rest of it when you come to “Into the Woods”!

The semester is nearing the end! All of my work isn’t, however. Papers and projects are looming. I think we’ll survive though.
