Friday the 13th
July 13th, 2007I’m glad I’m not superstitious.
Tomorrow I head to the southern reaches of Indiana for a good friends wedding. It should be a good time, even if the drive is boring.

Well, it’s America’s 231st birthday, and I’m sitting at Panera using their free Wi-fi. The past few weeks have flown by because of work, graduation parties, a bout with a cold, playing music, and enjoying all that summer has to offer. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s flawed, just like the rest of the world, but the most beautiful city in it. I’ve been downtown a couple of times in the past week for day camp field trips, and each time I’m reminded of it’s beauty. If you haven’t been at all or in a while, I highly recommend it. There’s some thing for everyone: sports, culture, nightlife, architecture, parks, the lake, and food.
The past few weeks I’ve been reading Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, a look into the Christian faith from a postmodern viewpoint and directed at people who fit into that subculture. Read the rest of this entry »
The past few weeks since my birthday have literally flown by, and I’ve finally had some things to do besides doing chores at home. Summer Camp (Our Savior Lutheran Day Camp) has begun, and it’s been fun so far. the kids are energetic and fun as always, and I have a great group of co-workers. It helps that most of us have known each other for the better portion of our lives. Besides that, I’ve playing a lot of guitar and drums, trying to actually practice for once in my life…that’s not always easy, I suppose.
My birthday was Sunday, but my family celebrated all weekend. Besides the privilege of turning 21, I did a lot of other fun stuff. On Friday night, my sister surprised me by taking me to the White Sox game at US Cellular Field. The seats were stellar, and the game was great. On Saturday, we hung out as a family and I got a Carlton Fisk throwback Sox jersey. On Sunday, it was the big day. I spent it with family and friends and I spent Monday with the family and at work. It was a great weekend, and probably the best birthday yet!
Grades were finally posted yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, I put effort into all my classes, but there were countless times this semester that I completely slacked and had no motivation to study or do homework. About mid-April I was hit with the idea that I’d completely bombed this semester because of this apathy. That said, I’m glad that I did finish strong and I honestly felt confident that my kick at the end pushed me to do as well as I did. If only the plus / minus system wasn’t in place; otherwise, I’d have a 4.0 this semester.
I’m getting antsy this summer, because I really haven’t done much this summer and I’m getting bored. Work (OSLC Daycamp!) doesn’t start until June 4th, so the most work I’ve done is the normal yard work. I guess playing guitar and drums all day will suffice until then.
Four days until my 21st birthday…
Thanks for the inspiration, Tim!
In no particular order…
1. Bears vs. Vikings, Metrodome, September 24th, 2006: Bears win, and my seat was awesome!
2. Exec. Board: Being an elected student official was a great opportunity to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I spent time with some great people, becoming more passionate about student government and student life.
It’s always great to be home! While I can’t wait to get back to CSP, it’s good to have some time with the fam. Tonight, we went out to eat as a family to celebrate my parents’ 25th anniversary.
All I have left to do before summer is write a five to six page Leadership I paper. It’s doable, but I sense my motivation slowly slipping away. Tomorrow night, I’ll be heading to the Metrodome to see my beloved White Sox attempt to beat the Twinkies. I’d go anyway, but the $4 tickets are too cheap to pass up. I can’t believe I have only one more year left at CSP, but it’ll be the best yet!
