Mr. Blue Sky

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

In honor of recent weather conditions, I am pleased to share this beautiful mix with my readers:

As I have learned from my fourth grade class at Central Lutheran, 400 year old hymns can be pretty sweet to the ear even today - so why not a little afro and oldies to share the happiness of blue skies?

Exploring Church Careers!

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

We have [had] (date change to Fall 2009) an event coming up once again this year and it’s always an exciting time at CSP with the fun activities! This event is known as EXPLORING CHURCH CAREERS!!!!!!! It is also a time to reflect on this school year and the things accomplished - figuring out where our lives are headed.

One of the exciting opportunities I had last year was to show the students attending Exploring Church Careers what life is all about at Concordia! Here’s a snapshot of “Exploring the Cities!”

Here’s an idea for you - subscribe to a daily devotional!  I have realized that for it to be any good you have to be into it!!  You have to WANT to read a devotional for it to be of any benefit for your spiritual life.  I have been blessed to listen to Q90fm online (my home radio station), which also points me to all kinds of spiritual food.  Check out q90fm.com today!

Here’s the daily devotional I received for today that I found JUST right, once again, for my life right now:

Your First Love

Revelation 2:4 & 5a
Nevertheless I have something against you, because you have left your first love.  Remember therefore where you came from and repent.

Sooner or later if you want the blessing of God on your life you will have to go back to the original plan He had for your life and that is for you to love Him totally and to give your life to Him completely!  No more of this attitude of; “well, I will give Him this area, but not my boyfriend or girlfriend or maybe it’s your children and then there is this addiction, I really don’t think I am ready to give Him that either, I mean what would I do if I gave it ALL to Him?”  That attitude just needs to be left on the side of the road and it is time to move forward!  How about instead asking Him today to show you what you haven’t given to Him?  Ask Him to help you to grow into being all you can be in your lifetime!  You might just shock yourself, let alone everyone around you if you allow Him to do everything He has planned for your life!  Trust me, it will be the ride of your life, there may be a few bumps in the road, but if you give them to Him as well it will all be good!  He can change your mourning into dancing!  Psalm 30:11, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.”  Ask Him to give you back your love for Him and the excitement of when you first gave your life to Him.  Start fresh today so you can have every blessing of God on your life!

All That Jazz

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

It’s spring break for Concordia students this week. I know, it’s the end of February…. BUT the snow is melting. It’s a bit cooler today, but I can live with anything above 20 degrees. Seriously, this has been a tried and true winter.

Anyway, this past weekend, my fellow members of Vox 9 and I traversed south for Creston, Iowa. We were attending the 11th annual vocal jazz festival at SWCC (Southwestern Community College). (more…)
