“Spring Break”

February 26th, 2008 by Andy Wyss

Well this year’s Spring Break is fairly disappointing on many levels. First and foremost is the weather. It is certainly not Spring, nor does it feel like it. In fact, Spring Break is even earlier this year than most. Secondly, I’m stuck here on campus while everyone else is off enjoying their free week. The baseball, softball, and golf teams went to Florida, meanwhile the Track and Basketball teams are here getting ready for the upcoming games and meets. Speaking of which, our indoor conference track meet is this Friday and Saturday in Bemidji….wish me luck!

All That Jazz

February 26th, 2008 by Tim Sailer

It’s spring break for Concordia students this week. I know, it’s the end of February…. BUT the snow is melting. It’s a bit cooler today, but I can live with anything above 20 degrees. Seriously, this has been a tried and true winter.

Anyway, this past weekend, my fellow members of Vox 9 and I traversed south for Creston, Iowa. We were attending the 11th annual vocal jazz festival at SWCC (Southwestern Community College). Read the rest of this entry »

I’ll crawl out from under the rock now

February 5th, 2008 by Tim Sailer

Not to worry, I have returned.
The end of the semester (last year) was a fun swirl of busy-ness. Now I’m adjusting to the spring semester 2008.

It’s SUPER TUESDAY (have you/will you caucus?)!!!

I don’t want to make this extremely long (because I have some homework to attend to), but I’ll give a bit of a breakdown of what my semester entails.

CLASSES
Fiction Writing
Playwriting
Directing
Theatre History I
Lighting and Sound Design
Dance
Choir

(Okay, so I have a lot of classes, but I truly love them all)

OTHER STUFF
News editing for “The Sword”
Acting in “Seascape” and “Pirates of Penzance”
Vox 9 Vocal Jazz Ensemble
Paying my rent every month

Am I in over my head? Not quite, but I’m sure I’ll be flirting with that possibility throughout this semester.

I’m really starting to get sick of the snow and winter.

QUESTION:
Anyone seen any good movies lately?

A Good Start To A New Semester…

February 4th, 2008 by Andy Wyss

We are now four weeks into the second semester and things are very well so far! My classes haven’t really gotten hard yet, but I can see the work load a-coming! Myself and the track team have done really well so far this indoor season. We’ve had quite a few injuries, but we have plenty of time to get healed up before our Conference meet. All in all, I’m really happy to be back here at school with all my friends, and to get one step closer to that diploma!

News, news, news–a coffee rush update

November 14th, 2007 by Tim Sailer

Coffee is one of those strange things. It’s really not the greatest thing for my throat and voice, especially with performances coming up for “Into the Woods.” But I do have a jolt of energy this morning while I’ve been working at Alumni Relations and sorting through my e-mails, the news, and my Script Analysis homework.

Speaking of the news, Concordia is nearing the end of a two-week pilot of the USA Today’s Collegiate Readership program. Read the rest of this entry »

Here we go…

November 1st, 2007 by Tim Sailer

It’s the middle of the semester (well, past the semester actually). I’m sitting in the middle of an “Into the Woods” rehearsal right now. We open in two weeks! I highly encourage all to attend this unique show. We open Nov. 15 and run through the 18th of Nov. The Thurs, Fri, Sat shows are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday show is a 2:00 p.m. matinée.

It’s nearly been a month since I’ve written in this thing, and a lot has happened. Read the rest of this entry »

Writing Center Commercial

October 29th, 2007 by Andy Wyss

This is a 30 second commercial I did for the Concordia University-St. Paul Writing Center. The video is shot in a classic 1950s style, with movie reel effects and appropriate audio.

Fall Break

October 13th, 2007 by Andy Wyss

Well, my fall break had its ups and downs.
On the up side, I got a few days off of school and I got to see my high school team win their homecoming.
On the down side, I had to work two days out of the four, I had to spend a lot of money on my car, and my laptop crashed. I had planned to use the four days off to catch up on work (including two major projects) and maybe even get ahead…but I had to sit idle during the break.

Come Monday, I’ll have all the regular homework to do plus all the work that piled up over the weekend.
Grrr…I just try to keep my eyes on God and know that He’ll get me through these times when I’m most stressed.

el fin de la semana

October 11th, 2007 by Tim Sailer

Dear Devoted Freshly Squeezed Blog Readers,
You are about to embark in a reading of my epic weekend. It was full of hard work, relaxation, and even more hard work. Still, it felt like a true weekend, which I’ve been deprived of for some time. Last weekend, I was traveling to and from Sioux Falls to get a new driver’s license. Now my friends can no longer make fun of my 9th grade mug shot. Read the rest of this entry »
